Care worker receives compensation for injuries
A care worker who was seriously injured on two occasions has been awarded compensation, it has emerged.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, was assaulted twice by patients she was working with, Crain's Manchester Business reports.
According to the business newspaper, the 38-year-old was first attacked in 1996 and then again in 1999.
Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust - which employs around 690 staff and was responsible for a budget of £281 million in 2006-07 - admitted liability for the incidents.
The worker has now been awarded a payout of £825,000 for the injuries she suffered to her neck and right shoulder, her future loss of earnings and her future care costs.
Her legal representatives state that her injuries were so serious that she still suffers pain each day and will not be able to work again, adding that they will affect her for the rest of her life.
