Injured worker seeks compensation after fall
A worker who sustained injuries as a result of a fall is taking legal action, it has been revealed.
In July 2004, former security guard Martine Widlake tripped on steps at Stansted Airport after the heel of her shoe got caught in a loose tread.
The 33-year-old tumbled down 15 steps before landing on the floor with a badly bruised back, the Herts and Essex Observer reports.
During a recent hearing, she claimed that the incident has left her with a legacy of pain and discomfort.
As a result of her injuries, Ms Widlake had to change her role at work.
Her employer, BAA - which owns seven UK airports - admits liability in the case but is disputing the size of the payout that its staff member will receive.
Ms Widlake did acknowledge that her employers have done all they could to accommodate her since the accident.
The hearing at London's high court is ongoing.
