Man awarded compensation of £1 million following fall

news image A man who was injured in a fall from height has received compensation of £1 million.

Kantilal Mistry was repairing an office block air conditioning system in 2005 when he fell from a ladder which was propped up against a door, the Harrow Times reports.

The worker was found unconscious on the ground and has no memory of the accident, which happened when he was working for Team Q Maintenance, a firm which is predominantly based in Scotland and the south-east of England and employs around 200 technicians, managers, engineers and administrative staff.

As a result of the fall, Mr Mistry suffered brain injuries which mean he now has difficulty with many basic activities and requires care.

During a recent hearing, his ex-employers accepted 80 per cent liability and agreed to the payout, which includes a lump sum of £100,000.

His wife, Damini, said: "The accident has caused a great deal of injury to my husband, followed by a great deal of trauma to us all."
