Man wins right to pursue birth injury claim
A disabled man has won the right to pursue a birth injury claim, it has been revealed.
Jonathon Khairule was born at Tameside General Hospital and suffers from cerebral palsy, a physical condition which affects movement and coordination, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
He is wheelchair-bound and communicates by typing on a keyboard with his nose.
In a new development, the high court has ruled that the 27-year-old can bring a medical negligence case against the North West Strategic Health Authority, which he believes is to blame for his condition.
This is despite the fact that he did not take legal action within the normal time limit set in such cases.
Mr Khairule stated: "It wasn't until I was in my early 20s that I started to do some investigating. I did not know if I would be able to claim compensation, I just wanted answers."
