MRSA is a bacterium which is found on the surface of the skin.  It is normally only harmful to people with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly or sick, and usually affects those with an open wound or drip.  The most common place to suffer from MRSA infection is in hospital.

The best way to prevent MRSA infection is to ensure strict hygiene standards in hospitals.  Wards should be regularly disinfected and all medical staff and visitors should wash their hands after every task.
